Koala was rescued after causing a six-car accident on the Australian highway

He just hanged!

A koala caused a six-car crash when it crossed one of Australia’s busiest highways, prompting drivers to jump to the rescue of the marsupial, according to reports.

A man whose car was hit from behind around 7 a.m., causing a chain reaction, was the first to get out of his car to try to save the gentle creature, Guardian Australia reported.

Another driver, Nadia Tugwell, told ABC Radio Adelaide that she later saw the gentle demon moving between vehicles on the highway, not far from the pile.

“Then I saw a lady running after her with a blanket trying to catch her,” she recalled.

The two women managed to corner the koala and tied him in a jacket before putting him behind Tugwell’s car.

Tugwell, who had previously rescued other animals from local roads, arranged for the Adelaide Koala rescue center to meet her at a nearby gas station.

While waiting for the rescuers to arrive, the gentle creature felt comfortable in the car – and even jumped behind the wheel, the photos showed.

“I was sitting there having fun, but I had to get out of the car at that stage, when he decided to take over,” Tugwell told Guardian Australia.

A koala rescuer eventually managed to maneuver the marsupial into a bag.

“He was actually a pretty calm koala, he wasn’t even struggling to be in the bag, he was just calm and got in the basket,” Tugwell said.

Ann Bigham, a rescue volunteer, told ABC that the koala had come out of the ordeal “without a scoop.”

The animal was released into the wild less than a mile from the highway.

“The koala was in very good condition, it was lucky it wasn’t hit at all and thanks to the rescuers it was kept safe,” Bigham said.
