King Philip of Spain takes a father’s blow in his Christmas speech

Well, that’s weird.

On Christmas Day, Spanish King Felipe threw it with his father, former King Juan Carlos, in his holiday message to the nation.

In his televised speech, Felipe stressed that “ethics is above family ties” and added that citizens call for “principles that apply to all, without exception and that are above any other considerations, including personal or family (ties)”.

Felipe’s words were slapped on Juan Carlos, who sent her to Dubai in August after he was involved in a financial scandal.

The speed came just a month after Spanish prosecutors began investigating whether it received millions of withdrawals from Saudi Arabia during the construction of a high-speed rail by a Spanish consortium.

Juan Carlos was also the subject of a Swiss investigation into whether he received $ 100 million from the late King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah, and then transferred $ 65 million to former escort Corinna Larsen. Investigators considered the alleged transfer as a possible attempt to hide the money from the authorities. Larsen, a Danish-German businesswoman, called the money a “gift.”

Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014 after a public outcry over an elephant hunting trip to Botswana during a deep national financial crisis – and revelations his wife cheated on, Queen Sophia, who allegedly slept with 5,000 other women.
