Kim Kardashian is seeking a divorce from her husband Kanye West

Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce from her husband, Kanye West, her publicist confirmed to CBS News on Friday. The reality star and Grammy-winning hip-hop artist have long been rumored to be ending their six-year marriage.

The two married in a ceremony in 2014 in Italy, after the birth of their first daughter, North, 7 years old, and continued to have three more children: Saint, 5, Chicago, 3 and Psalm 1. It was a the third marriage for Kardashian, whose first marriage was to producer Damon Thomas and the second to basketball player Kris Humphreys and the first to West.

The news comes after a tumultuous year for the couple. West, 43, announced via in July Twitter which turned out to be a disorganized campaign for the presidency, a movement he had been playing with for years. He quickly drew criticism for accepting millions of federal incentive funding for his clothing and sneakers business, Yeezy.

After making controversial statements at a campaign rally in South Carolina and posting a series of comments on Twitter late in the evening for his wife, Kardashian came to discuss ongoing struggles with bipolar disorder.
