North Korean leader Kim Jong-un threatened to expand his nuclear arsenal by revealing a list of high-tech weapon systems in development, pointing out that the future of the country’s relationship with the United States depends on whether Washington abandons its policy. hostile, state media reported Saturday.
Kim’s comments, made at a major conference of the ruling party this week, are believed to add pressure to President-elect Joe Biden’s administration, who called Kim a “bully” and criticized his summits with President Donald Trump.
The “key to establishing new relations (…) with the United States is if the United States withdraws its hostile policies,” Kim said, according to the Korean Central News Agency.
The leader pointed out that he will not use his nuclear weapons first unless they threaten him. In addition, he was open to dialogue if Washington wanted it too, but he stressed that North Korea must continue to strengthen its military and its nuclear capabilities in order to face the growing hostility from the US.
And he again referred to the United States as the “main enemy” of the Hermetic nation.
