According to a tweet of Killeen Police Department crews fought a major fire in the building in the hotel, urging local residents to avoid the area.
There was no information as to whether the hotel was occupied or whether there were any injuries. According to the hotel’s website, it has 102 rooms.
Video from affiliated KWTX showed multiple police and fire crews on the spot where the building appeared to be completely inundated.
Earlier in the day, the Town of Killeen tweeted that it had to do with water conservation conditions like much of the state due to this week’s storms. “We are in phase 5 water conservation due to the extremely limited water supply,” the city tweeted.
