Barry Gibb and Keith Urban meet in a cinematic rendition of the Bee Gees hit “I have Gotta Get a Message to You”. The song is one of twelve new collaborations between the only brother and country Gibb alive, American artists and bluegrass.
Urban’s voice is the first to greet listeners in this new version of the hit of the ’60s, his tender voice layered with a piano studio ensemble and light strings. Together, the couple tells the story of a man who is awaiting execution and who wants to send another message to his wife before leaving this earth.
Urban is matched by Gibb in the second verse before joining forces in the final chorus. There, they sing with passion, “I just need to get a message from you / Wait, wait / another hour and my life will be through / Wait, wait / I just need to get a message / Wait, wait. “
Written by Gibb and his brothers Robin and Maurice, “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You” was released in 1968 and peaked at No. 1 in several countries, giving the Bee Gees their first US Top 10 hit when it hit climax no. 8 pe Panel Hot 100.
