Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, honors Queen Elizabeth II in an emotional manner at today’s funeral of Prince Philip.

Former Kate Middleton arrived at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral wearing a jewel from the Queen’s collection. The duchess is wearing the queen’s four-strand pearl necklace for today’s ceremony, next to a diamond clip.

The Duchess paired the necklace with a fascinating black, a black veil with mesh and a long black coat to mourn the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh. Being one of the 30 guests who attended the ceremony, Prince William and Kate wore black masks to follow the strict rules of COVID-19.

It is reported that the queen made the necklace made years ago with pearls that were given to her by the Japanese government. The pearl necklace has been worn several times over the years by the queen, including a royal engagement in Bangladesh in 1983.

Kate also paid homage to another member of the royal family by choosing her jewelry: Princess Diana. William and Prince Harry’s mother had worn the necklace for a special occasion in 1982, borrowing the queen’s elegant choker for a royal banquet at Hampton Court Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not made a public appearance since Philip’s death last week.

Prince William issued a statement on Monday, April 12, through Kensington Palace, to pay tribute to his grandfather. Kensington Palace shared an emotional photo with Kate’s statement from Philippi, sharing a special moment with her 7-year-old great-grandson, Prince George.

“I will always be grateful that my wife has had so many years to know my grandfather and for the kindness she has shown him,” William said in part in his statement. “I will never take for granted the special memories that my children will always have of their great-grandfather coming to gather them in his carriage and see for themselves his infectious sense of adventure, as well as his sense of bad humor!

“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and was part of an extraordinary generation,” William concluded. “Catherine and I will continue to do what she wants and we will support the Queen in the years to come. I will miss my grandfather, but I know he would like us to continue. ”
