Longtime DC radio host Peter Deibler, better known to listeners as Kane, died Friday after “a long illness,” his family’s lawyers said Monday.
Deibler hosted “The Kane Show” on HOT for 99.5 years and once contributed to NBC4. His program was broadcast in the DC area and beyond.
“Although the co-hosts came and went, Kane remained a constant and comforting voice for the thousands of people who drive to work, drop off their children at school and do errands,” Deibler’s family’s lawyers said in a statement.
Deibler was the father of two daughters, whom he often talked about in the air. His age was not released immediately.
The iHeartRadio radio network sent its condolences.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news that Kane is dead. Kane has been an important part of our iHeart family for many years, from its beginnings at WFLZ in Tampa to its network of stations and success at HOT995 in DC and Club Kane. Please keep Kane’s family and daughters in your thoughts and prayers, “the company said in a statement.
