Platinum is busy
Earlier this year, platinum rockstar producer Hideki Kamiya explained that they will probably have something to show Bayonet 3 at some point this year. So what better time to check in on this than (check the clock) two weeks later?
Speaking to VGC, Kamiya explains that it is still very early in the year, but for updates: “It is not really our position to say, but … it is January. We need to get something out, right? I think it’s safe to expect something to come out. There is a lot of year left, which I say. “
Funny, VGC asks about providing something “more substantial than another CGI logo.” At this moment Kamiya laughs and replies: “I understand that he is driving the fans crazy! In light of this, my suggestion would be that maybe we should all reset and forget about Bayonet 3. When something finally happens, it will be a nice surprise, won’t it? “
Truth! But, as Square Enix has learned many times before, showing something far too early can have repercussions. The problem is that Bayonet 3 it’s so strongly tied to the Nintendo car, which creates all sorts of problems with expectations. Whenever a potential Nintendo Direct “leak” occurs (most of which are false or assumed), Bayonet 3 it is almost always on him or speculated.
This isn’t necessarily Platinum’s fault (especially if it was Nintendo’s decision to show it early to drive the Hype Switch), but that energy is now in the universe. You can’t put it back in the bottle!
