Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic fractured his right wrist Thursday night during a 111-87 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Nurkic could be seen holding his wrist after slipping the ball in the third quarter and falling to the floor after contact under the Indiana basket. During a break, he went to the locker room and never returned.
Trail Blazers did not immediately indicate how long Nurkic would miss.
The 7-meter Bosnian center averaged 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in the game.
Nurkic missed much of the first half of last season after breaking his left leg in a game in March 2019. He returned to the team to play ball in Orlando, Florida, after the season was put on hold. because of the coronavirus.
“He had a long way to go from his other accident,” said coach Terry Stotts. “He had a tough start to the season, he seemed to be back on track. Obviously, this is a big failure for him and for us.”
Stotts said Nurkic was in a splint after the game.
The Blazers were already without striker / center Zach Collins indefinitely after ankle surgery in late December.
