In a 5,000-word article detailing the complex story of the “Snyder cut” in Justice League, a sentence brought the fans into a slight frenzy: “He redistributed the ending with a hero cameo that will throw the minds of the basic fans”.

This quote comes from Vanity Fairis recent comprehensive article about film and movement, which will culminate with the March 18 release Zack Snyder’s Justice League, A four hours completion of a Snyder project left in 2017 and has been back ever since, out of encouragement from fans. But that’s another story.

This story is about a teased cameo. The line was picked up on blogs on the internet and speculation began to surface about the character of DC Comics that could be – many were leaning towards one of the green lanterns. The theorizing has become so great, in fact, a potential candidate, Ryan Reynolds, addressed it on Twitter.

Well, io9 spoke to a source with knowledge about the movie and we know who the cameo really is. It’s cool, yes, but you may want to lower your expectations with just a smidge.

According to our source, the cameo is none other than DC’s J’onn J’onzz, also known as Martian Manhunter.

Now, fans might think, “Wait, it can’t be him. I already knew Martian Manhunter he was in the movie. The actor himself confirmed it. ” This is true. Remember that actor Harry Lennix played the role of General Swanwick in 2013 Iron Man and 2016 Batman v Superman. Snyder had intended that character to become a green hero who changed form. HI also worked with Justice League director Joss Whedon pe Dollhouse.

In recent weeks, Lennix has even spoken variety to reveal that he filmed the motion capture for Snyder’s Justice League. “[I got a call from Zack that said] “Hey, when can you come in and shoot?” So it was great, ”Lennix said of the job. “I found out that there was a possibility, or at least that Martian Manhunter would be in it, when he revealed through the storyboard that Martha Kent was visiting Lois, and after she left, she revealed herself to be, in fact, Calvin Swanwick, or Martian Manhunter. That’s how I knew about it. ”

The actor is referring to Snyder storyboards unveiled in October 2019 of the Martian Manhunter scene is revealed. Snyder previously filmed half of the scene, but only needed the Lennix side. Looks like this is the scene in question here. So, if all this was already there in the universe, why was it called something that “will throw the minds of hard-core fans?” As far as we can tell, Vanity Fair was just an adverse spoiler for a reader who is not up to date with all the latest news about superheroes. But we can confirm that the reference refers to the appearance of Martian Manhunter.

To be fair, not everyone reads Variety. Not everyone saw Zack Snyder’s Vero two years ago. A lot of people won’t know it’s coming and those people will definitely be surprised (which is why I put this revelation behind a spoiler bar today). Of course, Ryan Reynolds is not some kind of mind freshly distributed Supergirl, or any other number of entertainment, multiverse reforming the predictions that have dominated social media in the last 24 hours. However, it’s pretty cool. Another situation in which Snyder finally managed to complete a vision he had planned for years.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League hits HBO Max on March 18th.

Correction 23/02/2021, 13:35 ET: The original version of this post erroneously stated that the film will be black and white. Snyder’s original cut was black and white, but the final version will not be. Lennix also worked with Whedon at Dollhouse and not at the Justice League. We regret the errors and have corrected them.
