The representative of the 3rd Progressive Party in San Juan, for the New Progressive Party (PNP), Juan Oscar Morales classified as “tantrum” the lawsuit filed by his opponent from the Movimiento Victoria Ciudadana (MVC) demanding a new election for alleged irregularities in the early voting process of the race.
“It seems to me again that there is anger on the part of Mrs Prados and Manuel Natal, who in the absence of votes resort to revolt, in the absence of a constitutional mandate from the population, resort to this type of demand, which is an unfounded demand,” he said. in an interview with Radio Isla 1320.
Morales pointed out that in the Prados trial it is alleged that some voters in a residence in Río Piedras were not allowed to vote there. However, the representative indicated that there was a home for the elderly in this residence and that these citizens had the right to request early voting. Similarly, the novoprogresista assures that Prados does not present any evidence of fraud in the legal appeal.
“There is not a single piece of evidence in that case that there was fraud, but on the contrary, I believe that the fraud was committed by Mrs Prados,” Juan Oscar Morales added.
Yesterday, lawyer Eva Prados Rodríguez, candidate of the Citizens’ Victory Movement to represent the 3rd representative district of San Juan, presented a petition today to challenge the results of the State Electoral Commission (EEC), which certified Juan Oscar Morales the winner of the election.
The petition, filed both at the Court of First Instance and before the House of Representatives, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the 2020 Electoral Code, calls for a new election due to the impossibility of generating a reliable and fair result.
“In our petition we present eight (8) causes of the challenge of the legality, reliability and certainty of the votes reported for early voting and the absent voting modalities. If successful, the challenges would change the results of the general election in the representative district 3 “, said Prados Rodríguez.
