The leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan Guaidó replaced this Saturday the positions of a commission that he himself created in January 2020 and with which he hopes to eliminate the control of the signal from the multistate channel Telesur from the Nicolás Maduro regime.

Through a series of messages posted on Twitter, Guaidó, which several countries recognize as President responsible for Venezuela, announced that it had asked its close collaborator Roberto Marrero and journalist Eduardo Sapene to “develop and coordinate efforts to move forward” in its intention to restructure Telesur.

In January 2020, Guaidó appointed journalists Leopoldo Castillo and Larissa Patiño to chair the “Telesur Restructuring Commission” as chairman and coordinator, respectively.

Then, the National Communication Center, which reports on the decisions it takes to the interim government that Guaidó claims to chair, stressed that the commission intends to “recover the signal (from Telesur) and put it at the service of democracy in the region.

Also, Guaidó said the relief workers Castillo and Patiño had taken steps “to deal with censorship and misinformation and to pay for truthful information” on the situation in Venezuela, although it is not known what work they did at the head of the above-mentioned commission to remove Maduro from the control of the canal.

Guaidó also stressed on Saturday that Telesur “was an executor of the lie” and that “the disinformation and censorship apparatus of the dictatorship (Maduro) it is one of its tools to support itself in Venezuela and to make propaganda in our country and in the Latin American region ”.

Telesur, which was founded in 2005 and has the participation of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, is operated by the Bolivarian Communication and Information System, a state media conglomerate attached to the Venezuelan Ministry of Communication.
