Jorge Cálix and Luis Redondo warn against the intention to abolish extradition in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- Two delegates warned against intentions being promoted from the National Congress to abolish extradition.

The spokesman for the bank of Freedom and Restoration party (Free), Jorge Cálix, stated that “there are strong rumors that the National Party in Congress would propose a motion to overturn the agreed order allowing extradition in Honduras.”

Meanwhile, the deputy head of the Innovation and unity party (Pinu), Luis Redondo, was warned through his social networks about the intention to abolish extradition.

A reform of Article 102 of the republic’s constitution was approved by the CN in January 2012, allowing the supply of Honduran lands to some countries for the crimes of drug trafficking, terrorism and organized crime. Two years later he was extradited to the United States Carlos Arnaldo “El Negro” Lobo.

Currently there is no law or regulation governing extradition, only one agreed warrant is allowed by the Supreme Court (CSJ) that processes and resolves the requests for deliverables.
