Jon Ossoff hijacks Fox News Airtime to take out Perdue and Loeffler

Jon Ossoff, Georgia Democratic Senate candidate, turned the roles of Fox News on Wednesday morning, taking the opportunity of an improvised live interview with his Republican opponent Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA). -GA), who is running in another Senate race.

During a campaign stop in Marietta, Georgia, Ossoff was approached by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, who informed the Democrat that they were live on the air and if he was willing to answer a few questions.

Doocy first asked the 33-year-old candidate to share what ‘relevant experience’ he had in fulfilling his promises as a senator, prompting Ossoff to briefly mention his journalistic career: ‘fighting injustice, exposing war crimes and corruption. Before turning his attention to Perdue and Loeffler.

“Right now we have a crisis of corruption in US politics and since we are live on Fox, I would like to take this opportunity to address the Fox audience directly,” he said. “We have two US senators in Georgia who have shamelessly used their offices to enrich themselves.”

Loeffler and Perdue are two of the richest members of the Senate, and both have undergone intensive scrutiny over their vast stock portfolios and personal financial transactions during their tenure. Democrats, meanwhile, have inundated the state with advertisements that the two Republicans are hitting investigations into their stock trading activities.

After Ossoff made his campaign pitch for Fox News viewers, Doocy jumped in to ask him about Loeffler’s latest attacks on her Democratic opponent Raphael Warnock, bringing up allegations about a children’s camp that Warnock used to run.

“Is there any concern that the allegations of misconduct against Reverend Warnock next week could potentially be a drag on the Democratic ticket?” the Fox News correspondent urged.

“Not at all,” Ossoff insisted. “Reverend Warnock addressed this issue a year ago and here’s the bottom line: Kelly Loeffler is campaigning with a klansman. Kelly Loeffler campaigns with a klansman. “

The Senate hopeful referred to Loeffler who recently posed for a photo from a campaign event featuring Chester Doles, a neo-Nazi and longtime Ku Klux Klan member who marched at the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. Loeffler’s campaign, meanwhile, quickly distanced himself from Doles, saying the senator “had no idea who that was” and “would have thrown him out immediately” had she known.

“So she’s bending over to these vicious personal attacks to distract herself from campaigning with a former member of the Ku Klux Klan,” Ossoff concluded. “We deserve better than that.”
