The right to San Diego Padres Joe Musgrove threw a 3-0 win over the Texas Rangers at Arlington’s Goble Life Stadium on Friday without a win.
Puerto Rican receiver Victor Caratini was part of history when he received Musgrove’s deliveries. Last year, Cayey was behind the set when Alec Mills threw a no-hitting shot for the Chicago Cubs on September 13th.
The Padres were the only active MLB franchise without a hit-and-run game, and came into their game 8,206 of the regular season.

“It’s amazing to have him in a Padres uniform,” said Musgrove, a San Diego native. “It’s the first in the franchise’s history, it’s incredible.”
Only in the second start with San Diego, Musgrove (2-0) broke out 10 and faced 28 beats, one over the minimum.
Rangers’ only base runner was Joey Gallo, who was hit by a two-run pitch in the fourth inning.
“It was like three different scenarios where I thought I lost him,” Musgrove said.
Musgrove, who threw 77 of his 112 pitches for strikes, is in his sixth season in competition. Previously, he played for Houston (2016-17) and Pittsburgh (2018-20) and has never played a full game in his last 84 starts.
“I’m tired, man,” he admitted.
It was the first no hit in the major standings this season and only the second full game.
Last Saturday, in his San Diego home debut, he eliminated eight in six innings without a score against Arizona. He had no tickets to win that game when he threw 57 of 78 strike pitches.
It was the fourth time a player without blows was thrown against the Rangers. The last one was by Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox on April 18, 2007.
According to Baseball-Reference, there have been 307 hitters-free players in MLB history before Musgrove and Padres. This included 293 people without hitters and 14 without combined numbers.
