Jim Carrey has been indicted.
The comedian will no longer play President-elect Joe Biden in “Saturday Night Live.”
“Although my term was only to be 6 weeks, I was delighted to be elected president of SNL … the highest call of comedy debt,” Carrey posted on Twitter Saturday. “I would like to go further, knowing that Biden was the winner, because I really put that st. But I’m just one of a long line of proud, SNL Bidens fighters! ”
The 58-year-old Los Angeles resident has temporarily moved to New York to play Biden in the full-length sketch comedy show, according to The Wrap.
“SNL” sporadically broadcast live episodes in the studio, in season 46, despite the pandemic.
“Thanks to Jim Carrey for showing up when it mattered,” SNL Twitter account published in response to Carrey’s news.
Maya Rudolph has played Vice President-elect Kamala Harris since last season, when “SNL” mocked Democratic mayors.
A new Biden can be seen in tonight’s show, which is broadcast at 23:30, Kristin Wiig will host with Dua Lipa as a musical guest.
During the Obama administration, Jason Sudeikis played Biden. Woody Harrelson and John Mulaney also played in the future presence, though only when they hosted the show.
Alec Baldwin, who has played President Trump for years, said goodbye to the character after Trump lost the election.
