Jim Carrey will no longer play President-elect Joe Biden Live on Saturday night, passing the torch to a new generation of political imitators.
“Although my term was supposed to be only 6 weeks, I was delighted to be elected president of SNL … the highest call of comedy debt,” the 58-year-old actor wrote on Twitter Saturday. “I would like to go further knowing that Biden was the winner because I put my mouth to that invention. But I’m just one of a long line of proud, SNL Bidens fighters! “
Sources close to the show confirm for Yahoo Entertainment that Carrey signed only for six episodes. Live on Saturday night, which airs on NBC, approved Carrey’s tweet signed up“Thanks to Jim Carrey for showing up when it mattered.”
Replacing Jason Sudeikis, Carrey joined season 46 in October, portraying Biden in signed aviator sunglasses with Maya Rudolph, who plays Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump.
