Jill and Joe Biden reflect on COVID-19 in the Christmas message

President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, today shared a Christmas message inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic on their social media.

“Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. Jill and I wish you and your family the best of luck, health and happiness this season,” said the President-elect. “But we know that this has been a very difficult year for many of you in our nation. And in this season of hope, we are reminded of our common humanity and of what we must do for each other. ”

The couple called on people to be a source of help and hope to friends, family and strangers alike, recognizing that the pandemic has increased unemployment and prevented families from reuniting at Christmas.

“As our parties fade, we know this won’t last forever, and that brighter days are coming soon,” said Biden.

The doctor, for her part, thanked “the essential and frontline workers who have put themselves at risk for all of us, and for the scientists and researchers who have worked to provide vaccines that are incredible scientific advancement.”
