Jay Graham resigns after less than two months as coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide special teams

Jay Graham left for Alabama less than two months after being introduced as a special team and special crew coach for Crimson Tide football.

In a statement, Alabama announced that Graham had “immediately resigned.”

No reason was given for Graham’s sudden departure, which comes a few hours before the Sea begins its third spring practice.

Graham joined Nick Saban of Alabama in early February after spending the previous season coaching the Tennessee defenders. Graham also held this position at Texas A&M, South Carolina and the state of Florida.

“Jay is well respected across the country for his knowledge of the game and his ability to recruit,” Saban said when Graham was hired. “He has experience in many schools throughout the SEC’s footprint, with proven experience for his ability to teach the game and develop young people both on the field and in life.”

Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt was fired in January amid an NCAA investigation into potential recruitment violations. Assistant coaches Brian Niedermeyer and Shelton Felton, four members of the campus football recruiting staff, the director and deputy director of the football player’s staff, as well as a football analyst / quality control coach were also fired.
