Political analyst Jay Fonseca spoke this afternoon about the arrest of producer Sixto George and about the accusations he allegedly made against the lawyer for the alleged defamation.
Fonseca referred to the lawsuit filed by Sixto George and said that at the time, “many tried to throw mud at investigative journalism,” when many of the expressions that federal prosecutors now classify as Defamations were highlighted in the indictment.
“I am going to ask the FBI to continue this investigation and release the alleged subjects stated in the indictment (…) because, according to that statement, Sixto George was looking for money to pay certain people to do public relations in while the media and networks were sued, investigative journalism was slandered, “he continued.
Fonseca said that today he embraced the first amendment that protects freedom of expression and freedom of the press, “but it is even more important that all media do not unite in this case (…) to pay attention to the strategies that are made against investigative journalism to silence voices. “
According to the analyst, these demands “are not a personal struggle”, but an important cause “for people to see who is telling them the truth”.
Sixto George faces a $ 15,000 bail after being arrested today by federal authorities for trying to extort money from then-Governor Ricardo Rosselló.
The indictment reading session will continue 9th February to 13:30
In the publications made by George on January 19, he accused analyst Jay Fonseca of the action of the federal authorities for confiscating mobile phones, as happened to him in July 2019.
