He said the pace will increase due to administration programs to allow pharmacies and community health centers to administer photos.

“I would imagine that until April, that’s what I would call … open season. Namely, practically everyone and anyone in any category can start getting vaccinated,” Fauci said.

However, he added that it would take “a few more months” to put the vaccine in people’s arms, but that we hope that the vast majority of people in this country will be vaccinated by the end of the summer.

Although the rate has risen to about 1.5 million people a day, the national launch of vaccines has been uneven, affected by a lack of supply and different approaches in each state.

There are only two vaccine companies authorized in the US, but Johnson & Johnson is set for federal review later this month, potentially adding to the supply available immediately after March.

New cases, hospitalizations and even deaths, which were at record highs after the holiday season, have steadily declined in recent weeks, but about 3,000 people still die every day.

Experts compared the current situation with the calm before the next storm, when more contagious variants become the dominant strain in the country. However, while Fauci said he took the threats with the new options seriously, he was not too worried.

“The worrying news is that it is spreading faster. We know this from the UK experience. The good news is that the vaccines we have now, Moderna and Pfizer, and most likely those coming online soon, seem to do well against this British version, “said Fauci.

Fauci added that people should continue preventive behavior, such as physical distancing and wearing a mask, but if they did it all the time, nothing should change.

Fauci also said that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday did not recommend that people wear two masks. The agency has updated the instructions on mounting the mask to emphasize that the better they fit, the better the protection will be.

“What the CDC says is at least, wear a mask. OK? That’s what they say. Make sure you wear a mask,” Fauci said.

“Then you want it to fit better, so one of the ways you could do it, if you wanted to, is to put a cloth mask over it … That’s all they say,” Fauci added..
