Rams defender will miss Game of Week 17 after undergoing surgery for a broken thumb
Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Jared Goff, operated on his right thumb fracture this month in Los Angeles and will not play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinalsannounced head coach Sean McVay.
“We felt it would be the best thing that could be done for him and our team,” McVay said, adding that Jared Goff introduced some screws and that could return to the playoffs if the Rams advance.

Jared Goff injured his thumb in the final seconds of Sunday’s third quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, when he completed a 9-yard pass to tight end Gerald Everett.. As he threw, Jared Goff’s right hand hit the helmet of Seahawks defender Benson Mayowa.
“I put it back,” said Jared Goff, “and I finished the game.”
During his post-game press conference, Jared Goff downplayed the impact of the injury, saying his thumb “didn’t feel terrible.”
He also said that the thumb did not bother him on the field, as Jared Goff completed six of the 14 passes for 74 meters after the injury.
Rams’ 20-9 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday marked the first time this season that he has lost two games in a row. They can still win a playoff spot, either with a win over the Cardinals or a win over the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears in Week 17.
