Jan Blachowicz to defend UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 266

Jan Blachowicz, UFC light heavyweight champion, will seek his second defense title against Glover Teixeira in September, UFC President Dana White told ESPN.

The £ 205 fight will take place on a UFC 266 pay-per-view event on September 4th. The UFC has not announced an official venue for the event.

Blachowicz (28-8) came out with probably the biggest win of his career, a five-round title defense against defending middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on March 6. The Polish champion won the vacant belt, eliminating Dominick Reyes in September.

With his most recent victory, Blachowicz released list no. 6 on ESPN.

Teixeira (32-7) is the clear competitor of division no. 1, due to an unlikely test at 41 years of age. The Brazilian veteran unsuccessfully challenged former lightweight champion Jon Jones for the title in 2014 and compiled an average record of 5-5 between 2014 and 2018.

But he has been on fire since the beginning of 2019, accumulating five consecutive victories and four finals. In November, he will leave the TKO final of the former title contender, Thiago Santos.
