Jamey Rootes, the president of the Houston Texans, has resigned

HOUSTON – Texan President Jamey Rootes has resigned from the team, it was announced on Wednesday.

“The last two decades have been an amazing blessing for me, my family and us [McNair family] “Thank you for that,” Rootes said in a statement. It was an honor to serve him in this capacity as long as I did. “

Rootes, who has spent more than 20 years with the organization, was “responsible for all of the club’s business functions,” according to the team’s website.

“We sincerely appreciate Jamey’s multiple contributions to the Texan franchise throughout his tenure and look forward to seeing him succeed in his new projects,” said Cal McNair, Texan’s president and CEO. “We will now build on this foundation and continue with a bold and unwavering commitment to winning championships, creating memorable experiences for our fans and doing great things for Houston.”

The Texans are in the midst of an organizational overhaul that began when McNair fired head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien in October. This season, he has been replaced by general manager Nick Caserio and head coach David Culley.

These changes to the organization came after quarterback Deshaun Watson said at the end of the season that the Texans have “no real basis” and need “a whole cultural change.”

Although Watson has requested a transaction, it appears that Texans are trying to address these concerns.

At the introductory press conference, Caserio was asked how Texan culture could be improved.

“We look to the future,” Caserio said. “We are trying to build. So, we will make an inventory of what we have available. We will spend time with the staff, talk to them and find out how we want to build this. I wasn’t here for that, but I have an understanding of what happened.

“But our responsibility is to try to move forward, because every year everyone starts from the same platform, right? So we’re starting again, right? We’re starting our process of building the Houston Texans list in 2021, and that’s what we’re going to do . “

Last week, the Texans fired football director Kevin Krajcovic, equipment manager Mike Parson and vice president of football operations Doug West.
