Striker James Maddison made one of those celebrations that can go down in football history and more so in the context of the world currently living under the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic that has forced clubs around the world to play behind closed doors and with strict measures for off-field players.

That’s why Maddison’s curious celebration after scoring a goal against Southampton in the Premier League is striking. The footballer ran to one side of the gate and when his companions embraced him, he stopped them and greeted them with a “healthy distance,” that is, he waved his hand in the air, thus making the new anti-covid celebration in football.
