Court again, again, between the Cleveland Browns and defensive Jadeveon Clowney, renewed Wednesday. The Browns hosted Clowney, a free agent, on a visit.
Clowney left the team’s facilities and returned home without signing with the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The visit made the official list of NFL transactions for that day, but there was no indication of signing.
It is the latest resurgence of interest between Browns and Clowney, one that has sparked more sparks this year. Browns also courted Clowney, also a free agent before last season, but was never able to reach an agreement. General election no. 1 in the 2014 NFL draft signed with the Tennessee Titans, instead, concluded a $ 13 million one-year transaction.
The Titans didn’t have much trouble with their money. Clowney failed to record a single sack, managing only four TFLs out of 19 attacks in eight games. He has only had three sacks in 21 games in the last two seasons, although the 28-year-old Clowney remains an above-average defender and still generates pressure both as a final and as an inside presence.
Clowney continues to fight knee injuries that have consistently hampered his career. His 2020 season ended early with a broken meniscus, leaving his status for the start of the 2021 season questionable.
