Jacob Wright, 19, is charged with double murder while breaking into Rancho Cucamonga’s home

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California (KABC) – A 19-year-old man has been charged with the deaths of a Rancho Cucamonga woman and her 8-year-old daughter, as authorities release disturbing new details about the crime.

Rancho Cucamonga’s Jacob Alan Wright is charged with the murders of 44-year-old Jia Jia and 8-year-old Ruby Meng at their home last month. A third woman at home was seriously injured and hospitalized.

Investigators say there is no known relationship between Wright and his alleged victims. As for motive, they say the murders took place during the commission of a burglary.

Although the victims were Asian-American, authorities say racial hatred does not appear to be a motive.

Wright has been charged with two murders, one of attempted murder and one of first-degree home burglaries, with special charges that the murders were committed during a burglary and that multiple murders were committed.

San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson said one consideration in filing the charges was the “sophistication and depravity of the crime” and the vulnerability of the victims.

“One of the victims was particularly vulnerable, an 8-year-old girl who slept in the safety and sanctity of her mother’s bed,” Anderson said.

Can you imagine a safer place for an 8-year-old to be cuddled next to her mother? Only to be awakened by her mother’s screams and stabbed by an intruder. ‘

The district attorney’s office wants Wright to be held without bail.

In conversations with the victim’s husband, “his wish was that the suspect would never get out of prison,” Anderson said.

Authorities released Wright’s booking photo and asked anyone who may have information about an unreported crime in which he is involved, or the murder investigation, to contact Det. Malcolm page at (909) 387-3589. Callers can remain anonymous and contact WeTip at 800-78CRIME or www.wetip.com.
