Prince Philip’s funeral took place yesterday (Saturday, April 17) in St George’s Chapel in Windsor, following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, last Friday (April 9), at the age of 99.

Windsor is likely to have a special significance for the queen: Prince Philip, her 73-year-old husband, was buried here and where the royal couple spent every Easter together before choosing to isolate themselves there after the first national closure announced in March 2020.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the Duke of Edinburgh had relied predominantly on the Woodring cottage on Sandringham’s property, while the Queen remained in Buckingham Palace due to her work commitments.
