It looks like the PS4 and PS5 technically will receive two classic N64 games later this month. February is a slow month for PS4 and PS5 gamers and it doesn’t look like March will be much better. However, if a new leak is believed, PS4 and PS5 players will soon be able to enjoy a few games of yesteryear. Specifically, according to a new leak from the PlayStation Store, both Turok and Turok 2 remasters are finally coming to PS4 on February 25th.
The leak comes in the way of the British application PlayStation Network, which recently published PS4 listings for both games. The listings have since been canceled, but not before Reddit received the receipt. That being said, because the leak can no longer be checked and because a screenshot has not been provided, it is best to take this with a grain of salt. However, this is not the first leak that indicates these classic games coming on PS4.
Last July, out of nowhere, trophies for Turok were posted in the PSN back-end. At the time, the trophies did not appear for the sequel, but many expected the game pair to come together, in remastered form, because they were recently relaunched on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
For those who do not know: Turok, or as it is officially known as, Turok: Dinosaur hunter, is a first-person shooter that debuted in 1997 on Nintendo 64 and on Iguana Entertainment and Acclaim Entertainment. An adaptation of the Acclaim Comics comic book series of the same name, Turok was not only appreciated by critics, but sold very well, which led to a sequel. Turok 2: The Seeds of Evil. Like its predecessor, it was originally released only for the N64 and N64. And, as its predecessor did in 1997, it was both a critical and commercial success when it fell in 1998.
In 2021, Nightdive Studios owns the rights to the series and remastered and relaunched the first two games for PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. And now it seems that the pair of classics will reach the PS4, which means that they can be played on the PS5 through reverse compatibility.
At the time of publication, Nightdive Studios did not comment on this alleged leak. That being said, if the leak is correct, we should hear about the pair of ports very soon. After all, February 25 is just 12 days away.
