Apple is expected to continue offering four options for the iPhone in 2021, and the iPhone 13 will have a design identical to the iPhone 12 with few changes, according to a new report today on the Japanese website. Mac Otakara citing sources in the Chinese supply chain.
The height and width of the four iPhone models are expected to remain the same, but the thickness could increase by about 0.26 mm.
The rear camera unit is expected to increase by 0.9 mm on all iPhone 13 models, and Apple will move to a design that “covers the entire camera unit with sapphire crystal”. The lenses are expected to come out less in a design that is more similar to the iPad Pro 2020, which has a thick camera, but less prominence when it comes to lens design.
Mac Otakara believes that the iPhone 13 Pro could have optical image stabilization by changing the sensors, a feature that Apple has included in the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
As for the front of the “iPhone 13”, the site suggests that the TrueDepth camera “narrows” as the receiver at the top of the display will move to the edge of the case. This suggests that the notch on the next generation “iPhone” may be a little thinner.
This is the second time we have heard rumors of a thinner or shallower notch, so it is possible that the 2021 iPhone models will have a notch of the same length, but not as high.
Other rumors about the “iPhone 13” suggested that we could see some models getting OTP LTPO displays with support for 120Hz refresh data, and of course there will be a faster A15 chip. We have more to expect from the iPhone 13 in our dedicated summary.
