Cuban musicians Descemer Bueno and Israel Rojas, the director of the duo Buena Fe, held a controversy on social media about the issue of the Fatherland and life.
The debate began later a publication by troubadour Ray Fernández in which he shared a photo with the word “PATA” on his stomach and a note that read: “Complete the title of my new song”, a sign of the expression Homeland and life that Yotuel had written on his chest in the video clip of the recently released song.
In the post, he generated a wave of comments in which musicians Adrián Berazaín and Israel Rojas participated, where both made an irony about the title of Ray’s alleged song.
The next day, Bueno shared a video on Facebook to talk about the success of Patria y Vida, which he was already surpassing at the time. one million views on YouTube.
Live, he alluded to several topics, including his relationship with the late musician Santiago Feliú, whom he considers his teacher, and admires his honesty that never allowed him to lie about the reality of Cuba.
In this regard, he compared Rojas and Berazaín to Raúl Torres, whom he considers a dictatorship troubadour, and questioned their uncritical position with the Havana government.
“It’s very easy to be a communist by getting on the planes of presidents who don’t let countries eat,” he said.
“The worst of all religions is ignorance, and you are ignorant. They were all taken to serve as agents of state security,” he added.
Descemer clarified that the play Patria y Vida, in which he participates with Yotuel, Gente de Zona, Maykel Osorbo and El Funky, was written directly for the Castro dictatorship. “If you take it personally, it’s because you belong to that dictatorship, because you eat from it,” he said.
Israel Rojas responded to Descemer on his Facebook page and alluded to the relationship the two had in the past. Something Bueno also commented on in his video when he talked about the song they both wrote together, Being from the Sun..
“Again, Descemer Bueno uses my name more than talking about songs. I never had bad feelings for him, I didn’t say, I didn’t do anything against him. Think about how you think. The song Homeland and life, premiered on February 17, has become a kind of anthem for many Cubans who support a change in the repressive policy that the island government has maintained for decades.
At the same time, the official media, public officials and members of civil society related to the Government have launched strong criticism of the song and the musicians who perform it.
Less than a week after its release, the song is approaching two million views on YouTube.
