Iranian zombie Angelina Jolie is released, almost a week after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for “promoting public corruption”

Sahar Tabar was reportedly released on bail.

Sahar Tabar, a young Iranian woman known as ‘Zombie Angelina Jolie’, was released on bail just under a week after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for “promoting public corruption”, according to various reports.

Iranian activist and journalist Masih Alinejad wrote on her Twitter account on Thursday that Tabar – whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand – was released “under media pressure.” The information about the release of the young woman was also spread by the Tasnim agency.

In turn, the Daily Mail reports that the young woman told the Rokna news agency that “she wanted to be famous since she was a child” and that “cyberspace was an easy way” to fulfill that dream. However, after she was sentenced to prison, she said she was sure she would “not even put Instagram on her phone, let alone have a page” on that network.

The young Iranian became famous in 2017, when various media reported that she had undergone 50 operations to look like Angelina Jolie. She became a social media star, although her photos were also the subject of jokes and ridicule, even comparing her to the character of “Corpse Bride” or with a zombie, in addition to qualifying him as “terrifying.” Later, the young woman admitted that, although she underwent surgery, most of her unusual appearance was the product of makeup and editing.

Tabar was arrested in Iran in 2019 on charges of blasphemy and corruption of youth, and last week it was found out that she was convicted of it 10 years in prison.
