Iran promises punishment for Soleimani’s killers

Iran will not rest until the perpetrators of the murder of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), are brought to justice, Iran’s Foreign Ministry wrote in its Twitter account today.

“The United States has violated international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter, clearly violating Iraq’s sovereignty,” he said.

Iran will not give in until the authorities bring this action to court, he added.

A US airstrike launched on January 3, 2020, killed Soleimani along with an Iraqi militia commander near Baghdad International Airport.

Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani, the current commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, described Soleimani as a hero of Muslim nations who defeated hegemonic powers through their resistance, the official IRNA news agency said.

Qa’ani noted that the Quds Force will support any act intended to punish those guilty of Soleimani’s murder.

“The United States has failed to influence the goals of the resistance front” with the murder of Soleimani, he added.

The path of the IRGC’s Quds Force and the Resistance Front will not change with “malicious acts” by the United States, he said, according to a report from Press TV today.

For his part, the head of the Iranian judiciary, Ebrahim Raisi, said today that “the perpetrators of the murder will not be safe anywhere in the world,” said Press TV.
