Iran has called on the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to issue a “red alert” for his arrest President Trump

Iranian justice spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili labeled Trump the “main culprit” in killing Soleimani, whom he called a “terrorism crime,” the semi-official Mehr news agency reported. according to NPR. Other U.S. officials included in the request are U.S. military commanders and officials from the region and the Pentagon.
The request was the second time that Iran has requested assistance in arresting the president.
“The request to issue a ‘Red Notice’ to 48 people involved in the assassination of the martyr Soleimani, including the US president, as well as Pentagon commanders and officials and forces in the region, has been handed over to Interpol,” Esmaili said in a briefing.
Interpol’s red notifications are appealing to law enforcement agencies around the world to help locate and arrest fugitives who are being prosecuted or wanted for prison sentences.
But the Interpol General Secretariat told NPR that the constitution of the police association states that “it is strictly forbidden for the Organization to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial nature.”
Trump and other administration officials said the United States targeted Soleimani in a January 2020 strike that ended in the general’s assassination. The president said Soleimani was “planning imminent and sinister attacks” on the United States
A United Nations investigator later concluded that the US strike “was illegal and arbitrary under international law”.
Iran has promised retribution for killing the general, and a few days later the country launched a missile strike on an Iraqi air base sheltering US forces, leading to brain injuries to more than 100 members of the US service. The country first called for Trump’s arrest in June.
On the one-year anniversary of Soleimani’s death, Iranian Chief Justice Ebrahim Raisi said, “Trump will have to pay, regardless of his position,” NPR reported, citing the conservative Iranian newspaper Kayhan.
“Whether or not he leads the US administration, Trump should face retribution for the atrocity he committed,” he said.
