A 41-year-old man from Iowa was arrested Saturday on charges that he was part of the Trump-backed crowd that stormed the Capitol building on Wednesday.
Des Moines’ Doug Jensen appears to be the man who was at the forefront of a crowd entering the Capitol and chased a black cop up a flight of stairs in several videos of the riot, including one posted by HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic.
Jensen wore a black Q-Anon T-shirt and black cap as he walked the officer up the stairs to a hallway, where other officers joined the intruders. His face appeared on a series of photos released by the FBI on Thursday.
In a now-deleted TikTok video posted Thursday under the username @dougjensen, a man who appears to be Jensen suggested he was made a “poster boy” for what happened, ending by saying, “Don’t believe the news”, The Associated Press reported.
According to a press release from the FBI field office in Omaha, Nebraska and the Polk County Sheriff’s office, he was charged early Saturday on the basis of five federal charges, including violations and disorderly conduct.
According to the Des Moines Register, Jensen posted multiple photos of himself taking part in the invasion. He also posted photos to social media in which he responded to other accounts related to Q-Anon’s conspiracy community, asking if they liked his shirt.
Jensen was one of many other rioters arrested in the past two days.
