Summary of rumors about iPhone 13

IOS 15 release date: probably September

Apple usually unveils new versions of iOS at the annual World Developers Conference in June. Last year WWDC started on June 22ndand we first looked at iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and MacOS Big Sur. WWDC 2021 is probably a virtual event in June as well, although Apple has not yet launched its plans. Once the new iOS is announced, it becomes available to developers for testing and usually later in the summer, as a public beta.

The final version of iOS 15 is likely to be released in September, along with iPhone 13. Even though last year, iPhone 12The release was postponed until October because of the pandemic, I still saw iOS 14 released in September. So, it’s a pretty good bet that iOS 15 will follow the same program.

Device compatibility: iOS 15 will probably work on iPhone 7 and later

The only rumor I’ve heard device compatibility so far is that iOS 15 will require a iPhone 7 or later, according to the Israeli site The Verifier and the French site iPhoneSoft. This is not a huge surprise because iphone 6 the models are more than five years old now and run on the A9 chip. It looks like iOS 15 will require devices with an A10 chip, including iPhone 7 and later, and the seventh generation iPod Touch.

New iOS 15 features: change default apps, making widgets interactive

iOS 14 has added widgets that you can customize in smart stacks. iOS 15 will probably add more widget features.

We won’t have a good idea of the features that come with iOS 15 until it’s unveiled at WWDC 2021. Because iOS 14 was a bigger update, iOS 15 may make fewer changes and, in turn, based on basic iOS 14. configure and improve its functionality.

According to the PhoneArena technical site, iOS 15 can allow you to change several default applications. In iOS 14, you were able to change the default values of Safari and Mail for other browser and email applications. The upcoming iOS 14.5 update will also allow you to change your default music platform from Apple Music. iOS 15 can allow you to make more customizations like this.

PhoneArena also predicts that iOS 15 will make widgets interactive, as they are on Android, which will allow you to do things like change the volume or switch and turn things off. We may see more options for the widget size, the site reported.

It is rumored that the iPhone 13 has a permanent display, similar to the Apple Watch. While this is a hardware change, iOS would also likely change to accommodate it, possibly by updating the lock screen to display notifications in a different format, according to PhoneArena.

IOS 15 download instructions: As always

If you are part of the Apple developer program, you will probably be able to download the beta version for iOS 15 developers after the new operating system will be announced in June, to test your applications. The operating system will probably be available for download as a public beta later in the summer (it was in early July for iOS 14), so you can download it then if you want, but be warned: Beta is usually buggy and we don’t recommend downloading it to your main device.

Once iOS 15 is generally available, which we expect it to be in September, Apple will likely send you a notification notifying you that you can update. Or, you can do it manually by accessing the page Settings application > General > Software update.
