The Briton had a terrible year 2020 in terms of results, finishing 10th out of 14 competitors in the Eastern Conference, and this season it does not seem that the prospects will improve either. But that’s not his only headache.
On Monday, he suffered a severe legal blow in the lawsuit he is maintaining with Inter Milano, for violating his trademark. The Italian club claims that the term Inter is synonymous with their team and anyone who wants to use their name must pay for it.
In 2014, the European club filed a trademark application with the United States Patent Trademark Office, a legal battle it has just won. A final appeal to the USPTO is now underway for Inter Miami to overturn the decision, which involves a humiliating name change and the million-dollar costs for Beckham and Co to change all of the club’s logos and marketing materials.
