Intel’s Anti-Mac ad campaign highlights M1’s shortcomings

With the launch of the M1 Macs in November last year, Apple officially began its transition away from Intel chips and it is clear from Intel’s latest advertising campaign that the company feels threatened by Apple’s decision.

In the ads shared on Twitter, Intel highlighted the shortcomings of the Apple ‌M1‌ Mac range. An advertisement this week, for example, highlights the gaming capabilities of Intel chips. Intel mentions Rocket League, a game that is not available on the Apple platform.

An announcement from last week highlighted by 9to5Mac points out the lack of a touch screen on Apple computers. “Only one PC offers tablet, touch screen and pen capability on a single device,” the Intel tweet said.

Intel’s tweets are linked to a video from YouTuber Jon Rettinger, which demonstrates laptops equipped with Intel chips and compares them to ‌M1‌ Macs.

Apple ‌M1‌ chips received a lot of attention at launch due to their impressive speed and energy efficiency, which does not match Intel chips. Earlier this week, Intel released a series of “carefully crafted” benchmarks designed to demonstrate that 11th-generation Intel processors are better than ‌M1‌ chips, but benchmarks were designed to favor Intel machines and have were described by Apple columnist Jason Snell as “M1 -friendless.”

Intel’s anti-Apple ad is probably just beginning, as Apple plans to be largely devoid of Intel chips in two years. Apple is transitioning its entire range of Macs to Apple silicon chips, MacBook Pro and iMac will be refreshed.
