Infinite Devs destroyed a piano to create some sounds in the game

As my great uncle often said, “To create art, sometimes you have to destroy an old unwanted upright piano.” He was a strange man.

In the latest Inside Infinite blog, 343 Industries shared a lot of details and information on how to create sounds in the near future. Halo Infinite. There is a surprisingly large amount of in-depth technological discussions and diagrams to be found in the post, if that’s your kind of thing. But what I want to focus on is that to help create loud and powerful sounds for the game, 343 released a piano.

Fortunately, they also recorded and uploaded it to YouTube.

Yes, I really meant fucked.

Not just a few hammer taps or a few rough shakes. They destroyed this by hitting him with bricks, bats and cutting the wires as well. Eventually, they started pushing dry ice on it and the results are some really creepy, alien noises. At one point, someone placed a block of dry ice on it and stepped loudly, which made a strange noise, which was the desired effect. But it also felt like someone just wanted to torture a piano and was lucky that day.

According to the blog posThis piano was donated by a friend of lead sound designer Kyle Fraser. The friend didn’t want it anymore and Fraser decided to use it to collect a bunch of different noises and pieces of sound.

I also think some people there just wanted to beat the shit out of a piano with baseball bats. And who can blame them? Sounds funny.
