Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. says he will not give up Carson Wentz’s No. 11

INDIANAPOLIS – Obviously, no amount of money will get defender Carson Wentz his No. 11 jersey with his new team, the Indianapolis Colts.

Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who currently wears the number 11, says he spoke to Wentz about the number, and the answer is no to a possible switch.

“I’m number 11,” Pittman Jr. told TMZ Sports. “… I don’t think any business will be done.”

It is not uncommon for players on new teams to try to buy their favorite jersey number for a large sum of money from one of their teammates.

The Colts have agreed to sign Wentz to be their new Philadelphia Eagles starting lineup for a third-round pick in 2021 and a second-round pick in 2022, which could turn into a pick from the first round on February 18th.

Wentz wore the number 11 while at North Dakota State University and for the first five years with the Eagles.

“It simply came to our notice then [Carson] and he just saw how stuck I was at number 11 and I told him I was locked up – and he said, “That’s great, bro, because I’ll probably change anyway,” Pittman Jr. told TMZ Sports. “… He asked me very respectfully and I appreciated him just for that. I think he’s a great guy, because a lot of guys with his status would come and ask for that.”

Pittman Jr. was number 86 in college at USC, but moved to No. 11 after being drafted by the Colts.
