To search the mountains, you’ll need to do some exploration for the Irish, and eventually you’ll have to thaw all the shards to stop a strong gust of wind preventing you from exploring part of the Dragonspine region.
In this guide, we’ll show you what you need to do to defrost all the shards, including where to go and any puzzle mechanics you need to solve.
Location 1
The first location is located northeast of the outskirts of Entombed. Here you will find a puzzle with five pillars. You will need a Cryo character to solve this puzzle.
Interact with the middle block with Seelie on it and it will show you in what order to activate the pillars. If you need visual help, you can find the correct order marked in the image below.
After completing this section, the nearby robots will come to life and you will have to destroy them all. The smaller pillars around the outside of the arena will rotate a warming effect, so use them to stop the Sheer Cold effect from you. When this is done, the ice in the middle of the area will break, allowing you to descend.
Break the nearby red crystals to get scarlet quartz, which will allow you to break the shards in the center.
Location 2
The second location is at Starglow Cavern. We suggest you spawn at the teleporter right next to where Starglow Cavern is written on the map. Near the teleport you will find a circular hole in the ground that leads to some tunnels. Take the tunnel to the left and continue down until you reach the shard. Here you will find shards protected by a barrier. You will need to complete the nearby time test to unlock this barrier.
The final location (or first, technically) is the Frostbearing Tree on the snow-covered path. This is very easy, because you just have to gather the scarlet quartz around it and break the special ice.
