Hey, this is a nice win against a good team. I’ll take it, I’ll take it.
With the wind blowing and the temperatures dropping to the 1930s, it wasn’t a wonderful night to hit. You could say that the ball would not carry in general, and most of the brothers had problems with lifting anyway. Jake Arrieta took advantage and relied heavily on his poplar, mixing several changes to the left later in his solid five-half appearance. It was probably the best thing he’s shown here in the regular season so far this year.
The Cubs managed all three runs based on a gift error from the Mets, an excellent base run by Jason Heyward (and a single by Eric Sogard), and then a base-laden walk that deserved a bat shot:

There was not much talk about the Cubs offensive, Javy Báez hitting four times and Joc Pederson three times. When they hit back-to-back in the middle of the command, whoo baby, right now, can make a hard watch.
However, this left the game quite tight, and the Cubs got excellent relief performances to make it rise. The biggest drama came in the 9th when a Craig Kimbrel couple went and one loaded the bases with just one. But Kimbrel hit Brandon Nimmo and got a grounder Francisco Lindor to put an end to it.
The complete score of the box.
