“I’m numb today:” Nile Rodgers says his mother, Beverly Goodman, died after the battle with Alzheimer’s
Nile Rodgers said on social media on Sunday that her mother Beverly Goodman died after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
“My mother #BeverlyGoodman #RIP passed away today around 06:00,” the 68-year-old musician wrote on Sunday. “I breathed some of my first breaths with her and she breathed the last part with me. My brothers and I will contact everyone soon. I’m numb today.
The New York native accompanied the sad message with a picture of him at his sick mother’s bed.

Co-founder Chic revealed last week about the anxiety she experienced because she could not connect with her personally for the holidays, because she was hospitalized behind strict medical protocols, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“The saddest part of this #COVID vacation is that I can’t visit my #mother,” Rodgers said on Dec. 23. “She is always happy and having fun, even in the late stage of # Alzheimer’s. I’ve learned to redirect or not, so she never feels uncomfortable with memory loss.
Earlier this month, Rodgers told The Mirror about his family’s history of the disease.
“Six family members had Alzheimer’s,” he said. “We are talking about my mother who currently has Alzheimer’s. And my mother’s sister, my aunt, died of Alzheimer’s. And their mother, my maternal grandmother, died because of it, and my maternal grandmother’s sister – my great aunt – died because of it. And also her daughter died because of it. And my uncle.

Rodgers received condolences from his colleagues after the grim announcement

Earlier this month, Rodgers told The Mirror about his family’s history of the disease, saying six relatives had died of the disease.
He told the publication about his work with the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and the impact of music on communicating with people.
“I think the charity does the kind of work that should be done around the world,” he said. “I think that musicians are the right ambassadors and that being able to spread this kind of kindness and love around the world is amazing.
“Being at the forefront is a very noble cause. I saw the music reaching people right in front of me. ‘
The Good Times artist received condolences from his colleagues after the grim announcement.
