Illinois COVID Update Today: IL reports 1,740 new coronavirus cases, 42 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – Illinois Department of Public Health officials reported 1,740 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 42 deaths Thursday.

IDPH reported a total of 1,193,260 COVID-19 cases, including 20,668 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

On Wednesday night, 1,200 patients in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 260 patients were in intensive care and 128 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, laboratories have reported testing 73,990 specimens for a total of 18,389,512 since the pandemic began.

The seven-day preliminary positive test nationwide from February 25 to March 3 is 2.9%.

A total of 3,563,775 doses of vaccine were delivered to Illinois providers, including Chicago, with an additional 443,700 doses allocated to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number delivered in Illinois to 4,007,475.

IDPH reports that a total of 2,993,543 doses of vaccine were administered, including 330,328 at long-term facilities. The seven-day average of vaccines administered is 78,942.

-County Bureau: 1 man aged 50 years
-Campaign County: 1 man in the 80’s
-Cook County: 2 men 50, 2 men 60, 1 woman 70, 1 man 70, 2 women 80, 3 men 80
-DuPage County: 1 man of 50 years, 1 man of 60 years
-Kane County: 1 woman of 50 years, 1 woman of 60 years
-Lake County: 1 woman of 50 years, 1 man of 50 years, 1 man of 60 years, 1 woman of 70 years, 1 woman of 90 years
-LaSalle County: 1 woman of 80 years
-Macon County: 1 man of 80 years
-Madison County: 1 70-year-old woman, 1 70-year-old man

-Mclean County: 1 70-year-old man
-Monroe County; 1 man of 80 years
-M Morgan County: 1 70-year-old woman
-Ogle County: 1 man of 80 years
-Peoria County: 1 man of 60 years, 1 man of 70 years
-Sangamon County: 1 man of 60 years, 1 man of 80 years
-Stephenson County: 1 woman over 100 years old
-Will County: 1 woman of 30 years, 1 man of 50 years, 1 woman of 60 years, 2 men of 60 years, 1 man of 70 years
-Winnebago County: 1 woman from the 90s
