Illinois COVID Update Today: IL reports 1,249 new coronavirus cases, 22 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,249 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 22 deaths on Sunday.

IDPH reported a total of 1,856,696 COVID-19 cases, including 20,516 deaths.

As of Saturday night, 1,265 patients in Illinois have been reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 303 patients were in intensive care and 150 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, laboratories have reported testing 66,500 specimens for a total of 18,136,253 since the pandemic began.

The seven-day preliminary positive test nationwide between February 21-27 is 2.4%.

A total of 2,740,105 doses of vaccine were delivered to Illinois providers, including Chicago, with an additional 443,700 doses allocated to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number delivered in Illinois to 3,183,805.

IDPH said vaccine distribution numbers are reported in real time and vaccine administration numbers remain at up to 72 hours.

IDPH reports that a total of 2,705,934 doses of vaccine were administered, including 315,416 at long-term facilities. The seven-day average of vaccines administered is 79,140.

Illinois said 79,266 doses of the vaccine were given on Saturday.

COVID United Center vaccination center

The parking lots of the United Center will soon be mass vaccination sites run by the federal government, officials announced on Friday.

As the state’s vaccine supply increases, federal, state and local officials have announced that a COVID-19 mass vaccination center will open on March 10th.

FEMA and the US Department of Defense will take the lead in administering the site, with a particular focus on vaccinating minority populations that have been relatively slow in obtaining doses. Arena staff also have experience in managing large crowds and traffic.

Illinois residents who are currently eligible for the vaccine in any part of the state can come to the site. Seniors in Illinois aged 65 and over will have exclusive access to meetings, followed by all other eligible groups in the state’s immunization program.

– Christian county: 1 man of 70 years

– Clark County: 1 man aged 60 years
– Cook County: 3 men aged 60, 1 woman aged 70, 2 men aged 70, 1 woman aged 90, 1 woman over 100 years old
– DuPage County: 1 man of 70 years, 1 woman of 90 years
– Kane County: 1 man aged 70 years
– Kendall County: 1 woman aged 60
– Knox County: 1 man from the 90s
– Livingston County: 1 80-year-old man
– Pulaski County: 1 woman aged 70 years
– St. county Clair: 1 man from the 90’s
– Will County: 1 man in the 90s
– Williamson County: 1 80-year-old man
– Winnebago County: 1 man from the 80’s
