ICE arrests Central Americans among the ten most wanted

A immigrant from Guatemala who was on the list of the 10 most wanted by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE), was arrested in New Jersey, the federal agency reported Thursday.

ICE agents detained 34-year-old Aníbal García Jerez in Cliffside Park after the immigrant returned to the country after being deported to Guatemala in 2018 after being deployed imprisonment for a crime endanger the welfare of a child (photographing or filming a child during a sexual act), indicates a statement from the bureau.

It further indicates that the ICE considered a priority arrest of the Guatemalan because of his serious crime history.

Outstanding charges

Garcia Jerez was initially located by agents of the Bureau of Detention and Deportation (ERO) on April 6, 2016 in the prison of the mountains province while in custody on pending charges for which he was later convicted.

The ICE filed an arrest warrant and on March 15, 2018, while serving his sentence, he was notified to appear before the immigration court.

July 20 of that year was taken into custody at BHV and on October 25, his transfer to Guatemala was ordered, from where he returned to this country and was arrested.

“This is a clear case of a person who, in addition to re-entering the United States after being removed, poses a clear danger to the community, especially our most vulnerable citizens: children“ERO Director in Newark, NJ,” John Tsoukaris said in the statement.

In the ICE’s most searched list Mexicans are still showing up Julián Bocanera Lupián, 48 years old; Gabriel Calixto Pichardo, 23; Luciano Dominguez Trejo, 28 and Luis Rodriguez Jacobo, 36, next to Santos Moreita, from Belize.
