More portable projectors, please!

I’m a a little abnormal here at Gizmodo when it comes to projectors. I love them and I’m especially attached to portable projectors that can move with you from one room to another, depending on where you feel like transmitting something. Sure, a beautiful 65-inch OLED is great for watching premium videos, but how about relaxing and watching wherever you feel comfortable at home? So a portable projector with a decent speaker per unit and a wireless solution? And is the size of a cup of coffee? Asus, consider me intrigued.

The company announced this week its new ZenBeam Latte L1 projector as. is part of its CES product range. The cup-sized device works as a projector as well as a Bluetooth speaker, which means you can play music or podcasts on it. It is equipped with Aptoide TV for accessing streaming applications and supports screen mirroring for design on the phone. And the company says that this compact projector emits up to 300 lumens and can project an image between 40 and 120 inches – so as big, if not even bigger than your TV.

As a Bluetooth speaker, Asus says the Latte can last up to 12 hours on a single charge. As a projector, search for up to three hours with battery only. But that’s certainly long enough to capture an episode of your favorite show or even a movie with a normal running time.

However, what I like about this projector – even if the battery life for serious streaming isn’t the strongest selling point – is that it’s compact enough to grab and go anywhere. Hell, you could throw it in a backpack for one socially distant movie night in the backyard. But it will also fit in smaller spaces, such as a shelf or bookcase, without having to move a bunch of things to fit them.

Prices and exact release date are unclear at this time, but we have contacted Asus for more information. And you better think that I will be the first in line to catch one of them when it officially arrives in stores.
