Tottenham Hotspur striker Gareth Bale has stated that he intends to return to Real Madrid when his loan period ends at the end of the season.
The Welshman had fallen out of favor at the Bernabéu with Zinedine Zidane and returned to north London on a one-season loan deal last year.
Bale will have only one year left on his contract with Real Madrid from the summer and had considered the possibility of extending his loan for another season.
However, despite a recent rejection, the 31-year-old has struggled to keep fit with José Mourinho, and his future will be safe in the debate as the summer transfer window approaches.
“There is no distraction for me,” Bale told a news conference ahead of Belgium’s first qualifying match for the 2022 World Cup in Belgium.
“I think the main reason I came to Spurs this year was to play football in the first place.
“Going to the Eurocup, I wanted to be in shape. The initial plan was to spend a season at Spurs and after the Euro there is one year left at Real Madrid.
“My plan is to come back, that’s what I planned.”
Bale has scored 10 times in 25 games for Spurs this season, but half of those goals have come in cup competitions, although he has found the net four times in his last four league appearances.
In addition to Thursday’s meeting with Belgium, which will bring back memories of Wales’ famous Euro 2016 victory, Bale could be involved in matches against Mexico and the Czech Republic for the next fifteen days as preparations for Euro 2016 intensify. this summer.
“In recent years, this is probably the best physical condition I have ever been in,” he added.
“I feel fresh and ready to go. I always think that when things are not going well in a club, it is good to get rid, especially mentally, to get rid of the club environment.
“It simply came to our notice then. We focus on these matches in Wales, which are very important to us.
“We forget the life of the club and focus on this.”
