Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti’s Palm Springs could have been our new favorite movie of 2020. That could be partly because it didn’t have a ton of competition in that area, but also because it’s a more nerdy, more adorable and somehow less cynical Groundhog Day story, one in which it was a delight to escape while we got stuck in a time loop of our own. So we’re excited, heck, Hulu just released a piece of commentary for the movie, not just as an excuse to enjoy the movie again, but because it’s a big step toward streaming titles, getting in the way of track extra DVDs.

By the way, it’s pretty intentional. variety announced the news, together with this perspective from Samberg: “As far as I know we are the first. We realized that Palm Springs will always be on Hulu, which is great, but there are elements of the DVD experience that simply no longer exist. They were very nice to talk about ways to get some fun there. “

Hulu isn’t the only streaming service that has started dipping its toes into the waters of extra-esque DVDs. Disney + has that backstage documentary series The Mandalorian, and some services attach trailers to their titles, although that’s more for attraction than archiving. But if Netflix and Amazon Prime want to start committing to giving people a better thing for selected shows and movies, I’m pretty sure everyone would be on board. Like, who wouldn’t want to watch a reel after binging season three Good place without having to go to YouTube?

For now, you can enjoy Palm Springs commentary with Samberg, Milioti and director Max Barbakow and screenwriter Andy Siara. Hulu even made a trailer for this:

Probably the whole piece of commentary is not just people saying nice but trivial things about the movie, but you can find out for yourself – it’s available now on Hulu.
